Our Client

Our client, a leader in automotive stamping and assembly with multiple facilities producing an extensive range of quality components for use in the manufacturing of automobiles and light trucks, is currently seeking a Human Resources Generalist.

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing Human Resources (HR) and Health Safety & Environmental (HS&E) support to managers and employees to meet Divisional and Corporate objectives. The incumbent will be responsible for HR and other related areas as applicable. The position will support the Plant Manager with all transactional HR and HSE related functions and will work very closely with the Director of Human Resources, the Corporate Health Safety and Environmental Manager, and other members of the Management Team.


Key Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a Human Resources capacity and Health and Safety
  • College Diploma/Certificate in Human Resources Administration or equivalent
  • Experience working with relevant legislation (Employment Standards Act, the Human Rights Code, etc.)

Additional Technical and Professional Requirements

  • CHRP designation or commitment to complete CHRP designation is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective listening skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretionary skills
  • Ability to multi-task, problem-solve, and interact positively with internal and external customers

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between Corporate HR, HS&E, and employees
  • Assist with discipline, investigations, and termination meetings; work with Plant Manager and Supervisors to provide coaching and implement disciplinary measures when necessary
  • Conduct full-cycle recruitment for hourly and skilled trade positions; manage manpower utilization
  • Facilitate training and development programs; maintain training records
  • Ensure adherence to Corporate policies and procedures
  • Respond to internal HR and HS&E inquiries from employees and management
  • Perform administrative duties including file maintenance, training record updates, and time/attendance tracking
  • Maintain current knowledge of employment legislation (Human Rights Act, ESA, LRA, OHSA, WSIA, AODA) and advise management accordingly
  • Assist with employee benefits and respond to related inquiries
  • Support employee performance programs and ensure KPI tracking
  • Promote employee engagement and retention through HR best practices
  • Implement corporate HR programs at the plant level
  • Create safety reports and support RTW and WSIB claims
  • Conduct hazard identification and coordinate emergency procedure plans
  • Other responsibilities and accountabilities as assigned
