Senior Software Developer

HCR Permanent Search is working with a leading edge technology company.  They are seeking a Senior Java Developer to join a high-performing engineering team and contribute to the design, development, and support of enterprise-grade backend applications and integration platforms.

This role offers the opportunity to work on scalable software solutions, API integrations, distributed systems, and cloud-native technologies. You will collaborate with experienced engineers to solve complex technical challenges and contribute throughout the software development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate is passionate about modern software development practices, building high-quality applications, and working within a collaborative Agile environment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8-12 years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on backend development.
• Extensive experience with Java and microservices development using frameworks such as Spring Boot, Quarkus, or similar technologies.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and system integrations.
• Experience with event-driven or messaging platforms such as Kafka.
• Experience with containerized applications and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience with network socket programming and communication protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP, or similar low-level networking technologies.
• Knowledge of distributed systems principles and application integration patterns.
• Understanding of secure application development practices, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and access control.
• Experience working with Kubernetes or similar container orchestration platforms.
• Strong proficiency with Git-based source control systems.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, optimize, and maintain Java-based backend applications and services.
• Build scalable and reliable software solutions that integrate with external systems and platforms.
• Develop clean, modular, reusable, and maintainable code using modern Java frameworks and open-source technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement APIs and system integrations.
• Optimize applications for performance, scalability, security, and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across development, testing, and production environments.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests using industry-standard testing frameworks.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and Agile development activities.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.

 Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience working within Agile and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) environments.
• Experience with Linux-based development and deployment environments.
• Knowledge of scripting languages for automation and operational tasks.
• Familiarity with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with observability, monitoring, and logging tools.
